Aerial Maps

Today we have been very busy creating maps of our classroom.  We started by looking at the different features of our classroom and then drew around shapes to show the objects we could see.  We imagined we were a spider looking down from the ceiling to do this! Tomorrow we will use our maps to mark where Naughty Bus has been in our classroom!

Zoo Lab

This week Year 1 had a visit from Zoo Lab. A ranger came in and taught us about different animals. We even got to hold some!

First we got to hold a giant snail. Did you know that this snail has lots of tiny little ? Even more than a shark!

Then we got to look at and hold a cockroach.

We also got to see a tarantula but we weren't allowed to touch it as it is too dangerous!

We also saw a snake...

And Sandy the mouse!

Classroom Maps

Today Year 1 have been making maps of the classroom. We looked at the different features of our classroom and drew around shapes to show the different objects in our classroom. We also made keys with symbols so that people looking at our maps know what everything is. Tomorrow we will use our maps to follow a path to hidden treasure!

Here are some photos of us drawings our maps.

Burwardsley Residential - Day 2

After our big cooked breakfast this morning we went for a long walk to the local dairy farm. We saw the cows and even some baby calves! We found out that cows eat grass, and also sometimes sweetcorn and straw.

We also went to the milking parlour where cows go to get milked. We learned about how they get milked and the journey of the milk goes before it gets to us in the shops.

Everyone came back to school very tired but very happy!
