Burwardsley Residential - Day 2

After our big cooked breakfast this morning we went for a long walk to the local dairy farm. We saw the cows and even some baby calves! We found out that cows eat grass, and also sometimes sweetcorn and straw.

We also went to the milking parlour where cows go to get milked. We learned about how they get milked and the journey of the milk goes before it gets to us in the shops.

Everyone came back to school very tired but very happy!

Year 1 Burwardsley Residential

Year 1 have had a fantastically fun-filled day today!

First we played some team games led by John, Adam and Matt. We had to practice our listening skills and work together to solve problems.

Next we went for a walk up Willow Hill and built dens.

First we had to collect sticks and carry them safely to make the frame.

After that we picked up lots of leaf litter to cover the dens.

We made three dens in total. We wondered if we could sleep in them overnight but decided not to this time!

This evening we had hot chocolate and story time. We can't wait until we go to the farm tomorrow!

Goodnight!

Stars of the week

This week's Year 1 stars are KC and Tymek.

KC wrote some super sentences describing Max from 'Where the Wild Things Are' and his feelings. Mrs Denny was really impressed with your work! Well done!

Tymek did an excellent piece of homework this week. He drew a really detailed and colourful story map to recount the different parts of the story. Well done Tymek!

I hope everyone is looking forward to our trip to Burwardsley on Monday!

Stars of the week

The Year 1 stars this week are Lily and Heidi.

Lily retold the story 'Where the Wild Things Are' in front of the whole class using her story map to help, and included many details!

Heidi did some excellent work in Numeracy, using straws to represent tens and units in numbers to 100.

Well done both of you!

Remember that Monday is now our PE day and you must have your PE kit (shorts, school t-shirt and plimsolls) to get a house point!

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Behi

Where the Wild Things Are

This week we started a new text in Literacy called 'Where the Wild Things Are'. We have been reading the story every day to get to know the characters and the plot. We have been drawing story maps to show what happens in the story.

Here we are working hard on our story maps:

Can you tell what the story is about from our drawings?

Welcome back!

Welcome back Year 1!

Last week's Stars in Year 1 were Ruby and Kalvin. Ruby did some excellent phonics work, learning the 'oa' and 'ew' sounds. Kalvin was really enthusiastic about our new topic 'Where can we go?' and participated very well by answering many questions about local rivers.

We also had some excellent homework brought in after the holiday. Elias made a poster on the computer with old and new photos of Ellesmere Port.

Leah made a model of a house from the past and also made a poster where she drew and labelled different forms of transport.

Well done to Leah and Elias!

I look forward to seeing many more creative homework tasks! remember, homework is given out on Friday and should be back in on Thursday.
